Mommy Monday: Boy Mom Grace

I am a boy mom. To these two cuties

This hit me hard over the weekend.
Maybe it was that my baby boy turned 12 weeks
or maybe it was part conviction
from my summer book study over at GMG "Anything".
In a nutshell the book is about
what are you willing to give up for God
and how to dig deeper into your prayer life.

You might ask how the book could have anything to do with this realization.
Well in the book it talks about what are we willing to risk to follow Jesus...
what are we willing to give up.
After a week of digging into scripture and reading chapters it hit me...
one thing I have been holding onto is my desire to have more children, especially a little girl.
I have felt that if we had x number of kids and at least 1 little girl our family would be complete.
Well I realized that my ideals might not be in God's plan.
After my 3+ year struggle with secondary infertility where my desire for more children consumed me
this type of peace overwhelmed me this weekend.
God has granted me peace and comfort in this area to which I am extremely thankful.
He has also granted me something else which is much needed for all moms
but I think especially for boy moms...grace!

God has shown me grace in many areas of my life.
He has also given me an example of how to show grace to my boys.
The grace to show patience when Wyatt has just one more thing to say or ask
( those of you who know him personally can understand this is HUGE!)
The grace to not yell when I step on a stray Lego for the 1,000th time
but to smile and remember one day all too soon he will grow up and I'll miss that
(thanks God for using my soon to be 19 year old nephew to teach me that one).
And lastly the grace to appreciate laundry...
yes I said it laundry...
each time I do a load of the boys clothes I get a peek into their day...
from what they collected (in their pockets)
to what they played (determined by what stains are present and where).
God's grace is amazing because he never loses his temper
 or gets frustrated with us...
unlike me because I'm sure at some point today
I will not use the aforementioned grace
and tell Wyatt to be quiet,
wish that Waylon didn't have a blow out,
or become frustrated because I step on a toy
or have to pretreat stains yet again.

Until next time...

Farm Boy Friday

Over the past month or so I have been following Wyatt around periodically
trying to help him learn his role around the farm.

He's too little for some jobs and too loud for others...
but here are a few of the things he has done to help out

many times he's a measuring stick when growing crops...
he loves to go check hay, wheat or silage fields and report back how much that field has grown

He enjoys sharing his experience on the farm with others

Working cows with Daddy is always a favorite...even if it means he just gets to shut the gate

collecting eggs is his job...I can't stand to be too close to a hen so this falls to him...
which I have to say since the hen is setting a group of eggs he obviously hasn't been doing his job very well :)

Again check hay fields and fences

watering the garden

helping out in the parlor bring in rags or dipping cows

pushing cows into the milk line

I love this picture of him.  After years of watching others push he has learned a couple of valuable lessons...
1. he can count to 8 and knows that 8+8=16 (we milk 8 cows in each line)
2. He knows the various breeds of dairy cattle
3. He knows that he must push the cattle slowly so that they don't hurt him or themselves

I love raising our boys on the family farm.

Until next time...

Wrangler Wednesday

We finally finished up T-ball

Waylon's new trick...sticking out his tongue

Waylon has been hanging around the dairy barn a good bit since I'm back at the office

So has Wyatt...he has even been going down the road in the mornings with William

Which makes for a tired boy in the evenings

We got to enjoy family time at the Charlotte Knight game on Dairy Day

Well some of us watched the game...other's napped

Waylon turned 3 months old

We had him baptized...
this is my favorite photo from that day mainly because of
Wyatt's face :)

These are Wyatt's boots only 4 months after purchasing them....
he's kinda rough on them...actually he's been easy on them which makes me sad

Until next time...
